Which of these patients are currently undergoing orthodontic
treatment?
All of them!!
Traditionally the orthodontic treatment has required fixed
bracework (‘train tracks’).
More recently virtually invisible tooth straightening with
clear, removable, tray like, gum shields (Invisalign®) have
become available. Frequently this renders treatment more
acceptable to patients who would feel self conscious whilst
undergoing traditional orthodontic work.
Although the trays must be worn for 20 hours of every 24
they can be removed for cleaning and social events.
Typically between 6 and 24 months.
