Examples of a genuine dental emergency

  • Severe pain not controlled by over the counter painkillers
  • Persistent bleeding following an extraction, following suturing of lip or oral lacerations following an accident.
  • Severe swelling affecting either the eyes or making breathing difficult

A chipped tooth or one with a missing filling not causing any pain, or a lost crown is not considered a genuine dental emergency.

What to do if you have a genuine dental emergency.

If you require an emergency appointment between Monday and Friday please ensure that you telephone us before 11am. At Just Smile we make every effort to cater for those patients who have telephoned before 11am on the same day.

We operate an emergency dental advice line for registered patients of Just Smile at weekends and public holidays. At these times please telephone the Dental Centre where you will hear a recorded message providing further instructions as to how to contact a dentist for advice.
